About The Artist: Ivo Vergara Lasnibat
I was born in Santiago, Chile and have been a visual Artist for more than 20 years. Throughout my artistic career, I have exhibited in major museums in Argentina, Chile, Brazil, and the United States. I was invited for my first solo exhibition in the U.S. in 1992, and in 2000 I was selected to exhibit paintings in the Latin American Art Museum’s 9th Anniversary Show in Miami. Since then I have been producing and exhibiting in the U.S., with my base in Los Angeles, California. In 2003, I was awarded a fellowship through the Foundation Valparaiso Residence program in Almeria, Spain.
I produced a site specific installation for Miami Art Basel in 2006 “Cerebral Architecture 1” (4,500 square ft) combining mural painting, sculptures, light and sound. In 2007, I created another multi-media site-specific installation piece for the Architecture and Design Museum of Los Angeles, “Cerebral Architecture 2” (450 square ft.)
Most recently I have focused on large-scale mural paintings. These include a commission for a realistic waterfall for The Roosevelt Building in Downtown L.A. (122 ft high x 30 ft wide) and, most recently, “Venice Beach Sunset” (40 ft high x 110 ft wide) on the side of Venice Suites Hotel, located on the boardwalk in the heart of Venice Beach, Ca.
